We are here tonight not only to award scholarships to our outstanding second-generation scholarship recipients and wish them the best in their future but also to thank our generous donors.

We started this foundation nineteen years ago and since then we have
awarded scholarships to 664 students. These recipients are now playing
exemplary roles in various fields around the world. They have also
formed the ‘VKCSF Alumni Association’ which contributes to the scholarship fund and also organizing numerous events to help younger students. Their efforts are the fruits of continued support and encouragement from each and every member of the Korean-Canadian community and other communites that support it. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation.

We have been selecting our scholarship applicants on the basis of not only their academic excellence but also their commitment to social service, their leadership potential, and their aspiration to make the world a better place. Based on these principles, we have awarded $810,600 to scholarship recipients since inception. And tonight we are awarding another $123,000 to 50 deserving students. I am confident that the recipients of the past, the present, and the future will greatly contribute to the betterment of the world at large.

Dear scholarship recipients, congratulations. You can be proud of yourselves. I believe that your future is bright if you continue your efforts as you have done so far. You are now members of the VKCSF family, and I sincerely hope that you become the humble and compassionate leaders our society needs. Every one of us here wishes you the best.

n conclusion, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the speakers, MCs, performers, community leaders, members of the media, members of the VKCSF Alumni Association, the staff of the Hilton Hotel, our many volunteers, and the board members of the VK
