A Brief Heading

About Us

The Vancouver Korean-Canadian Scholarship Foundation (VKCSF) is a charitable non-profit organization that provides scholarships to qualified students with Korean heritage and connects them to previous VKCSF scholarship recipients and industry leaders.

Scholarship recipients are chosen based on academic or vocational achievements, community involvement, leadership, and personal essays. Donors can create scholarships with specific criteria, such as the institution, field of study, or financial need. Financial need is considered only when it enhances the evaluation score or meets donor preferences. Unused donations can be carried over to future years, and the VKCSF is establishing an endowment fund to award scholarships from its interest earnings.

Our Mission

  1. To give back through volunteer or professional capacity to become constructive citizens of society promoting multiculturalism.

  2. To undertake social, charitable, recreational and educational activities to raise funds for providing scholarships to qualified students.

  3. To provide opportunities for its members to become well-rounded leaders of society, cultivating values including friendship, social responsibility, and leadership.

  4. To promote networking and build relationships among members.

Chair’s Greetings

It was a tremendous blessing to witness numerous individuals, Korean companies, and community organizations showing their generosity by sharing their finances, time, and talents with the Vancouver Korean Canadian Scholarship Foundation (VKCSF).

Since its inception in 1999, the VKCSF has proudly awarded scholarships totaling $1,483,600 to 953 recipients over the past 26 years, including the $67,000 being awarded to 33 students this year (plus an additional $5,000 matching fund from the Vancouver Community College Foundation). It has been great to see so many students with high achievement in academic or vocational training, who also demonstrated active involvement and leadership in the community. And it is especially encouraging to see that some of the 1.5 and second-generation Korean Canadians, including those who were past recipients, are now volunteers and donors for the foundation.

To the distinguished scholarship recipients of 2024, congratulations on becoming VKCSF scholarship recipients as a result of your dedicated academic efforts and extracurricular activities. Please remember the generosity of the donors in the Korean Canadian community and the hard work of those who tirelessly contribute their time and effort to sustain this organization’s mission. I ask that you not only continue to do your best in your academic pursuits, but also strive to support the prospective recipients by giving back your finances, time, and talents.

I wish you all good health and happiness. Thank you.
